new house farm wedding, the lake district

Our couple wanted their flowers to have a vintage country garden look using roses, lisianthus, gyp, chamelaucium etc.  We created a mix of large and small headed flowers, so that it was more styled than the hedgerow look, but they didn’t want anything too ‘weddingy’.  These soft vintage colours created some beautiful pastel shades which matched the bridesmaids dresses perfectly.

As always Steve’s photographs really capture the mood and feelings of the day and we love the way he photographs  our flowers.  Thanks Steve, hope to see you again soon!

Foliage bouquets

lt-0697

We have really enjoyed producing these mostly foliage bouquets and arrangements for our bride who wanted everything to reflect the lake district scenery that surrounded her house and the marquee they had by the lake shore at Ullswater.  We used a variety of ferns, mixed with seed pods and green flowers, such as green roses, hydrangea, viburnum and santini chrysanths.  These we put amongst the odd anemone and soft pink spray rose to lift the colours a little.

Along with the bouquets we created some flower headpieces for the flower girls and bridesmaids using the same flowers as the other arrangements.

Our bride wanted her long trestle tables for the marquee, filled with the same foliage based arrangements, so we created over 50m of table runners, designed to hold candles and be easily seen over so people could talk easily.  The beautiful marquee was from Bakerwood Marquees and looked stunning set in the lake disctrict and a great back drop for the foliage arrangements we created.

2016 wedding floral trends

We’re seeing an increase in the focus on flowers at weddings, but not the one colour, blended with bridemaids colours any more. Our couples are focused on lots of greenery with pops of colour as an accent, not the central theme. We’re being asked for lots of non-pretty flowers, so succulents and cacti, seed heads with a non styled look, with sections of great flowers to create special areas amongst the other natural decor.

We’re also seeing a change in the shape of the bouquets too, small petite bouquets with fussy details are being replaced by wide overflowing oversized shapes and lots of trailing ribbons in a mix of colours.

This new seasons trends are a creative florists dream, with lots of foliage and texture we get to mix a wider range of products to create some spectacular pieces to enhance any wedding.

Fantastic photos from Derwent Photography

We loved doing these unusual flowers for our gorgeous bride Rebecca who got married at The Punchbowl in Crosthwaite. Becca asked us for flowers in lovely deep reds and burgundys, purples and greens with the odd bright flower added in to give lots of texture and interest. We used autumnal hydrangea, hypericum berries, hibiscus, rannunculus, liatris, aconitum and craspedia to create a rare mix of flowers that would work well with the Punchbowls lovely rustic elegant feel. Thank you to Derwent Photography for supplying these amazing photos that captured Beccas fantastic smile and for Lucinda Hayton for making Becca look fabulous. Always a treat to work with these people.

Lovely to see a happy ending in all this rain!

When Sam and Sam booked their wedding for the beginning of December, no-one had any idea that we would be flooded and the poor people of Cumbria would have such a time of it. However Sam and Sam picked the best venue to have their wedding at, beause of the huge effort that they went to, to sort out everything for them and get the registrat and suppliers there despite the flooding. The Inn on the Lake worked so hard for them and we managed to reach Ullswater after 4 hours of trying to miss the flooding to hand over the cake and flowers which they ferried back to the hotel. What a suprise to see these photos in the papers of our wedding cake and flowers. We wish the two Sams all the best for their marriage and hope the slightly dramatic start is all the trouble they have to go through. Cumbrians are amazing and worked hard in the face of adversity to make this wedding happen! Thank heavens for my friends 4×4 too!

Thank you for the Photos Mrs D!

We have been sent some lovely photos of our flowers at Sarah and Simons wedding at Broadoaks Hotel . We used old english roses, Astrantia, Hypericum and Hydrangea to create a vintage look bouquet that matched her gorgeous lace dress and created 2 lines of rose petals to highlight the aisle with olive trees at the end. This is what she had to say ….

Amazing photos by James Tracey Photography

Thank you to James for sending me his fantastic shots of Mia and Pete at their wedding at The Samling. Mia asked for a trail of phaleanopsis orchids with some greenery which suited her dress perfectly. We mixed soft yellows in glass cubes for the table to give a soft summer fresh look.

Gorgeous wedding in Keswick

Marion, the bride and I never met, but we arranged all the flowers she wanted through emails to and from her bridesmaid. I am really happy working like that but there is always a bit of apprehension when you don’t knowthe bride and don’t get to know their style as well as we would do normally. So we delivered the flowers, I didn’t get to meet anyone I had spoken to on email so I left the wedding hoping desperately that the flowers were what they wanted. Then i got this lovely email from the bridesmaid I had been working with!

Hi Kerry
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers for Marion’s wedding on Saturday. They were exactly what I (and more importantly, Marion!) wanted – they were absolutely gorgeous, complemented the dresses and suits, and had a beautiful scent.
Thanks again – it was great working with you!
